Supportive Care Packs for Cleft-Affected Families
At CleftPALS Victoria, we know that navigating a cleft journey can bring unique challenges for both children and their families. To help ease some of these difficulties, we offer two types of care packs designed to provide comfort, practical assistance, and a sense of community during key stages of treatment.
Bone Graft Care Packs
Understanding Bone Graft Surgery for Cleft Repair
Bone graft surgery is a crucial procedure for children born with a cleft palate. Typically performed between the ages of 7 and 10, this surgery helps to close gaps in the gumline by transferring bone—often from the hip—to the cleft site.
This graft strengthens the upper jaw, supports the growth of permanent teeth, and lays the foundation for future dental and orthodontic work. While the procedure can feel overwhelming for both children and their families, it plays a vital role in improving oral function and overall facial development. With the right support and preparation, families can navigate this step with confidence.
Preparing for bone graft surgery can be a stressful time, and we want to offer families a small source of relief and support during this process. Our specially curated Bone Graft Care Pack is designed to provide both practical help and a little extra comfort while your child is in the hospital.
